Host City Connections: Reflective Practice Review
Host City Connections is a national community supported by Ally Global Foundation.
The initiative brings together frontline professionals, survivor leaders, community organizations, researchers, and public sector partners to strengthen collaboration, community readiness, and the safety and wellbeing of children and youth.
As communities reflect on large-scale events and periods of increased activity in Vancouver and Toronto from June-July 2026, The Reflective Practice Review is focused on learning from those who directly supported communities during this period. These conversations explored what worked well, what challenges emerged, and where opportunities exist to strengthen prevention, partnerships, and community capacity. While the primary focus is on child and youth safety, discussions also include child exploitation prevention, trafficking prevention, online harms, gender-based violence, and other emerging issues affecting children, youth, and communities.
The Reflective Practice Review is expected to be released mid-November 2026
Anti-Human Trafficking Training
This Anti-Human Trafficking Training was developed by Covenant House Vancouver and Ally for those who work with young people, who may be experiencing exploitation. This training will share the basics of human trafficking in Canada and provide practical guidance to apply your skills to youth impacted by this crime. Through the training you will learn what human trafficking looks like and how to respond effectively as a team.
Evaluating Victim Services Durham Region’s Human Trafficking Response: A Mixed-Methods Case Study
Victim Services Durham Region (VSDR) has developed a coordinated approach to human trafficking through its Helping Alliances with Law Enforcement to End Trafficking (HALT) model.
A mixed-methods evaluation of HALT explored how survivors and service providers experience the model, what appears to make it work, and where challenges remain. The findings point to a promising approach for jurisdictions seeking to strengthen their response to sex trafficking, but also suggest that successful adaptation involves more than copying a set of programs or services.
The Case Study is expected to be published early 2027.
